Driving down the Hood Canal we suddenly came upon elk grazing beside the road. What a peaceful place to spend a few moments. They seemed unconcerned about our presence. What a gorgeous setting - river running by with elk standing just in front of the rain forest.
FOLLOWING THE DREAM - Charlotte and I met in late 1979 when we both worked at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories. We both dreamed of a simpler life, so in 1981, we literally "dropped out" and lived off the grid for the next six years. We mined for gold, cut and sold firewood, did yard work, painted houses... whatever it took to put food on the table. We relished the simple lifestyle and the total serenity of the wilderness.
