This is one of the beautiful driftwood hearts that we have found along the beach in Oregon. This beautiful piece of wood has been carved by nature - the sand and the sea. If you look closely you will see the little pebbles that have become lodged in the cracks and crevices, as this pieced was tossed about in the sea. We spend many hours walking the rugged coastline of the Pacific Ocean here in Oregon. After the big winter storms the beaches are often covered in driftwood. We are always looking for treasures.

FOLLOWING THE DREAM - Charlotte and I met in late 1979 when we both worked at Lawrence Livermore Laboratories. We both dreamed of a simpler life, so in 1981, we literally "dropped out" and lived off the grid for the next six years. We mined for gold, cut and sold firewood, did yard work, painted houses... whatever it took to put food on the table. We relished the simple lifestyle and the total serenity of the wilderness. That was just the beginning of a life of adventure and "taking the road less traveled". In 1988 we moved to "town" and began a new adventure.
